Transport

Getting there

You will need to catch a ferry from Auckland CBD (Downtown ferry terminal) to Waiheke (Matiatia ferry terminal). It is then an additional approx. 40 minute drive from the ferry terminal to Man O War.

We will be providing a free shuttle bus service on the day between the ferry terminal and the venue, which will depart from the Matiatia Ferry terminal at 1:50pm. To be there in time for the shuttle, you will need to catch the 1:00pm ferry or earlier from Auckland City.

If you are planning on staying on the island, the shuttle will also make stops at:

Getting Home

We will also be providing a return shuttle that will leave the venue at 10pm, so that guests will be able to make the 11:30pm return ferry. The shuttle is run by the same company as the ferry, so they will make sure you don’t miss it. This shuttle will also make the same stops at Waiheke Library and Palm beach store for guests staying on the island.

Note the last ferry for the night departs Matiatia ferry terminal at 12:30am

Alternative Transport

Alternatively, if you wish to arrange your own transport, car hire is available on Waiheke. If you wish to leave the venue earlier, you can prebook a taxi from the venue. Note that Uber/rideshare may not be reliable in the area so we wouldn’t recommend relying on it.

Ferry Discount

You can get a 15% discount on your return ferry tickets if you’re buying them in person at the Fullers Ticket Office by showing them the wedding invitation. This is only valid for the week of the wedding for adult walk up return fares only.

Dress Attire

Women

Women are invited to wear summer cocktail attire that is light, elegant, comfortable, and season-appropriate. Kindly avoid wearing white 🤍

Men

Men are invited to dress in summer cocktail, smart casual attire with a relaxed vibe. Suit jackets are optional and not required.

For all guests - please note the venue includes grass and gravel, so wear footwear you feel comfortable in.

FAQ

Can I drive to Man O' War?

You are welcome to drive your own car or hire a car to Man O' War Vineyard. If you plan to do so please let us know as there is limited parking. It is worth noting that the road to Man O' War is a winding gravel road with no lighting.

Do I need a visa to travel to NZ?

If you're not a New Zealand citizen, you will need to obtain a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before traveling to New Zealand. Passport Validity: Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from New Zealand. Application Process: Online via the official Immigration New Zealand website or through the NZeTA mobile app Processing Time: Typically within 72 hours, though we recommend applying early.

Gifts?

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. We are so grateful, some of you are making the journey to Waiheke Island, and others are travelling all the way to New Zealand, to celebrate with us! We feel truly blessed to have everything we need, so please know that gifts are absolutely not necessary. If you would like to give something, a monetary gift would be warmly appreciated, but above all, we are thrilled to share this special day with you.

Accommodation Recommendations?

Waiheke Island
We've organized shuttles to Man O' War for the wedding day, so we recommend booking around Palm Beach, Oneroa, or Onetangi beaches. Look at the Transport section for more information on the pick-up and drop-off points. This part of the island is also well connected by public transport. See the Transport section for information on how to get to the island.

Auckland
We recommend looking around the CBD, Ponsonby, Mount Eden or Parnell for easy access to everything. If you stay in these areas, public transport can easily get you to the Waiheke ferry terminal. If you’re staying further out or would like to explore Auckland more freely, we recommend hiring a car. Taxis and Uber are also good options for getting around.

Things to do?

Auckland
The City of Sails! Enjoy the waterfront walk along the waterfront and check out some of the shops in Britomart. Walk to the summit of Mt. Eden, check out the shops and restaurants along Ponsonby Road, or spend some time at Auckland Domain and the Auckland War Memorial Museum. We also recommend making a day trip out to Piha and the west coast beaches.
Waiheke Island
Truly embodying 'island time' - Waiheke is an escape only a ferry ride away. For something unique to do, look into a winery tour, or even a fishing charter complete with a snorkle or swim off the boat. The links below are some good resources into what is available.
